About Us

We work across Live Performance, Audio Media, and Artist Training, with a particular focus on reaching rural communities and those living in areas of multiple deprivation. Whether it’s a live show in an unexpected space, a sound journey for listeners at home, or a workshop for emerging artists, our work is always about bringing people together through story.
Calathea Arts exists to grow something beautiful where it’s needed most. We invite you to explore, listen, engage, and be part of the story.
Rooted in the Midlands and growing across communities, Calathea Arts is a new creative force producing bold theatrical experiences for audiences in overlooked and underserved areas.
Founded in 2024 by theatre-makers Charis and Ruth, Calathea Arts was born from a shared vision to create meaningful, high-quality work that reaches beyond
traditional venues. Our co-founders met while training at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where their shared passion for storytelling and collaborative practice laid the groundwork for the company’s ethos:
Plant, Nourish, Thrive.
